{"id":709,"date":"2025-06-02T15:56:48","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T14:56:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspirasmove.com\/?p=709"},"modified":"2025-06-02T16:14:15","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T15:14:15","slug":"can-walking-really-improve-your-breathing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inspirasmove.com\/?p=709","title":{"rendered":"Can walking really improve your breathing?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>\u201cRun (walk) 3K every day in May\u201d\u2026 stated the announcement on the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation Events web page &#8211; \u201cwho would want to do that every day?\u201d I asked my husband.&nbsp; He knowingly gave me one of those looks and 5 minutes later I was signed up!&nbsp; Since I was already involved in the Wirral Walking Festival for the month of May and the Roy Castle team suggested you could \u201cstart off with a mix of walking and running\u201d &#8211; this challenge seemed perfect for a novice runner like me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:48% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"567\" height=\"411\" src=\"https:\/\/inspirasmove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/b15db7d7-f504-4f9f-9829-824c704fa75f.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-710 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inspirasmove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/b15db7d7-f504-4f9f-9829-824c704fa75f.jpeg 567w, https:\/\/inspirasmove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/b15db7d7-f504-4f9f-9829-824c704fa75f-300x217.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">&nbsp;As a qualified Yoga and Breathwork Coach, married to a Nordic Walking Instructor, the opportunity seemed too good to miss &#8211; so on May 1st off we went!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I decided to record my progress each day on my Inspiras Move Facebook Page (InspirasMove) and then share a summary Reel or two on my Inspiras Move Instagram (InspirasMove).&nbsp; I also&nbsp; planned to write this blog at the end of the Challenge to reflect on my 31 days of walking (with a little bit of jogging!)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Yes, I must admit \u2026 there were days when I felt a little tired, and even a bit grumpy, about having to complete my daily 3k, but as the month progressed I began to look forward to what each day would bring.&nbsp; Meeting up with friends, exploring the beautiful Wirral peninsula with its stunning beaches, County Parks and magnificent sunsets: walking in the rain, sun and wind. I also thoroughly enjoyed the recently introduced opportunity to Nordic walk the 5k Park-run at Birkenhead Park and chatted to some very enthusiastic walkers on the way &#8211; \u201cHello chatty Sophie &#8211; aged 7\u201d!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 37%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\" style=\"font-size:17px\"><br>&nbsp;I definitely feel healthier after my daily walks and have experienced first-hand the many ways walking has improved my own breathing pattern with a marked improvement in my VO<sub>2<\/sub> Max. There are so many benefits \u2026 Whether its Boosting your lung capacity; strengthening your breathing muscles; improving your oxygen circulation; encouraging better breathing patterns or even helping you to clear your airways (if you\u2019re a little bunged up)!
